We regard the practice of infant baptism as unbiblical for the following reasons:
- An infant cannot exercise his/her faith in Yahushua.
- An infant cannot make conscious decision to obey Yahushua.
- An infant is incapable of confessing and repenting of his/her sins.
- An infant cannot comprehend what baptism stands for.
- There is not a single instance of an infant baptism recorded for us in the Bible.
- Infant baptism gave rise to the unbiblical method of baptism by sprinkling and pouring of water. Obviously, it is not prudent to immerse infants under water.
- The infant baptism of sprinkling and pouring negates the symbolic purpose of baptism; it fails to illustrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Yahushua, the Anointed.
The Bible presents clear instructions on the ordinance of baptism. Hence there is no excuse for the incessant confusion that is often seen in this regard. By studying the baptismal guidelines in the Bible (Acts 2:38 ; Romans 6:3-4) it becomes clear that this public step of obedience can only be taken after one has put their faith in Yahushua; one must be determined to die to self and to rise from the waters fully dedicated to living a selfless life of full submission to His will.
In sum, the requirements for Biblical baptism are beyond the ability or scope of any infant.
